Who we are and how it all began!

Atta is a realised vision of Harry and Brij, who always wanted to open a modern Indian restaurant in order to bring indigenous and classic dishes from all corners of India with a modern twist in this part of the world. In early 2016, Harry reassembled the team responsible for Fuzion Restaurant (Richmond, Melbourne) to embark upon a new project.

Having a passion for Indian food and indigenous dishes, the team was always inspired to inject new energy into Indian dining.

Atta team set out to focus on an area of the Indian restaurant menu that rarely gets much emphasis while reinvigorating and enhancing the entire dining experience.

Meet the Team

  • Chef Harry

    HARRY DHANJAL

    FOUNDER

    Chef Harry has been working in the commercial kitchen for over 15 years and is Atta's owner and head chef. He is very passionate about Indian cooking and loves creating exciting and complex dishes that elevate the guest’s dining experience.

  • Brijesh Patel

    BRIJ PATEL

    FOUNDER

    Brij Patel, aka BP, is the owner of Atta and a Hospitality Industry veteran. He has worked and managed various Restaurants and Cafes in Melbourne. He loves a good chat and taking care of guests in the Front of House.

    Brij's vast experience and dedication to excellence means he continues to raise the bar for service at Atta, adding creativity and personality into the mix.

  • Chef Sharry Bara

    SHARRY BARA

    HEAD CHEF

    Chef Sharry has vast experience working in Italian and Indian commercial kitchens and has been working with Atta ever since its inception. Currently, he is managing the Atta kitchen as a head chef.

    He is very well travelled and plays a vital role in putting together new menus and mentoring kitchen staff.

  • Roopali Walia

    ROOPALI WALIA

    RESTAURANT MANAGER

    Roopali has been with Atta for serveral years and now heads the front of house operations. Not only does she have passion for customer service, she also has a great knowledge of food and wine.

    You will hear her lovely voice when you call Atta. Come and say hello to her when dining with us.

  • Chef Sandeep Rawat

    SANDEEP RAWAT

    CURRY CHEF

    Chef Rawat has worked for over twenty years in an Indian kitchen and has experience in Tandoor and Curry.

    He is a curry chef in Atta which requires years of experience to perfect the art of cooking flavourful curries.

  • Chef Sukhdeep

    SUKHDEEP KAUR

    TANDOOR CHEF

    Chef Sukhdeep has been working in a commercial kitchen for a few years now and is working as a Tandoor Chef in Atta.

    She looks after the tandoor section and is responsible for cooking tandoori dishes like Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Paneer and all the lovely naan breads that our customers love!

  • Sandy Chef

    SANDY THAMMAJAROENRAT

    DESSERT CHEF

    Chef Sandy has worked in a commercial kitchen for several years and currently works as a pastry chef. She works very closely with the head chef to create new dishes and desserts.
